Jagan slams Chandrababu Naidu, Government hits back

Metro India News | AMARAVATI

Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the TDP-led coalition government, accusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of suppressing dissent through false cases and police excesses. Speaking to the media in Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan said Naidu is “scared of his failures” and has turned to diversionary politics instead of fulfilling promises.

“The huge public response to my recent visits, including Sattenapalli and Podili, is proof that anti-incumbency has already set in. The people are disillusioned. Not a single promise from the Super Six has been implemented. Instead, false cases are being filed against YSRCP leaders,” Jagan said. He alleged that police are coercing small-time individuals to give false confessions and using them to jail senior leaders like Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, and others.

Referring to the arrest of Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, Jagan questioned why TDP workers who attacked Sakshi properties have faced no consequences. “The liquor case is just a tool to target Opposition leaders. What about justice for the farmers who are denied MSP or the growing atrocities against women that go unaddressed?” he asked.

On the controversial phone tapping issue raised by Y.S. Sharmila, Jagan distanced himself, saying he had no knowledge of any such surveillance and denied links to Telangana political affairs. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu hit back strongly, defending police action and warning against inciting violence. “While the state observes Yoga Day, YSRCP leaders shout ‘rappa-rappa narikestham’ in public meetings. Is this how leaders should behave?” he asked during a media briefing at the Secretariat.

Referring to the Sattenapalli incident, Naidu said the violence was orchestrated by YSRCP cadres. “We are not targeting anyone. Lawbreakers will face the law. People with a criminal mind-set cannot escape justice by playing victim,” he said, questioning why Jagan needed 40,000 people for a condolence visit.

“The person Jagan visited in Sattenapalli died a year ago, allegedly in an accident involving a YSRCP vehicle. Why show concern now?” Naidu said. “We controlled ganja and drug abuse by forming special Eagle teams. These leaders are encouraging rowdyism and glorifying betting culture.”
