Prof. Chennupati Jagadish, Institution of Eminence Chair Professor at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS), UK. The prestigious recognition is a testament to Prof. Jagadish's outstanding contributions to nanotechnology, semiconductor optoelectronics, and science policy.
As a renowned expert in his field, Prof. Jagadish has made seminal contributions to the development of new types of LEDs, lasers, and nanodevices for optoelectronic applications. His work has been widely recognized, with over 800 publications and nearly 38,000 citations.
Prof. Jagadish is currently Emeritus Professor at the Department of Electronic Materials Engineering at the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University. He is also the first person of Indian origin to be appointed as President of the Australian Academy of Science.
In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. Jagadish and his wife, Dr. Vidya, have contributed to social causes through the Chennupati and Vidya Jagadish endowment fund. The fund provides students and researchers from developing countries with opportunities to pursue collaborative research at the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering. As IoE-Chair Professor at UoH, Prof. Jagadish mentors faculty members and students, guiding them in launching research programs in frontier areas of nanotechnology and semiconductors.
