R.V. Karnan takes charge as GHMC Commissioner

R.V. Karnan assumed charge as the Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation  (GHMC) on Tuesday. As part of the recent reshuffle of IAS officers conducted by the State government, R.V. Karan has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). R.V. Karan officially took charge from the outgoing Commissioner K. Ilambarthi.

Previously, R.V. Karan served as the Director of the State Health and Family Welfare department, where he conducted extensive raids on food establishments such as restaurants, pubs, and ice cream parlors that violated hygiene standards, thereby raising public awareness about food safety.

K. Ilambarthi, who served as the GHMC Commissioner, undertook several programmes during his tenure to enhance urban development, expand basic amenities, and improve citizen services. He has now been transferred as the Secretary of the AYUD (Area Urban Development) under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). On the occasion, the GHMC officials and staff congratulated the new Commissioner and the outgoing Ilambarthi together.
