Doctors at Medicover Hospitals achieved a major medical milestone by successfully treating two rare and complex pediatric cases, highlighting advanced surgical expertise and teamwork.

In the first case, an 8-year-old girl was diagnosed with a large tumor in the posterior chest, dangerously close to the aorta and extending into the spinal canal. The condition posed a high risk of paralysis and life-threatening complications. A team led by Dr. Pramod Reddy Kandakure, along with neurosurgeon Dr. Aneel, performed a highly delicate surgery to remove the 500-gram mass without causing neurological damage. The child is now stable, and tests confirmed the tumor as a benign ganglioneuroma.

In another case, a 4-year-old boy suffering from bluish discoloration and breathing difficulty since birth was found to have a rare congenital heart defect known as single ventricle physiology. Doctors performed a complex cardiac procedure that significantly improved his oxygen levels and overall activity. Doctors said both cases required precise planning and a multidisciplinary approach. They stressed that early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial in managing rare pediatric conditions and improving survival outcomes.
