Red-alert districts told to remain on high alert amid rains

Metro India News | Hyderabad : With the Meteorological department forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Telangana over the next two days under the influence of a low-pressure area, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Wednesday directed collectors of red-alert districts to remain on high alert and closely monitor the situation.

He instructed district administrations to maintain constant vigil in low-lying and flood-prone areas, particularly around streams, tanks and other vulnerable locations. The Minister directed officials to evacuate people to safer places wherever necessary and ensure that district control rooms function round-the-clock. He also ordered the establishment of toll-free helplines to provide immediate assistance to people during emergencies.
