Reliance Industries is preparing to make a major foray into Andhra Pradesh’s beverage and logistics sector, with plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing and warehousing facility near Kurnool. The project, aimed at producing packaged drinking water, soft drinks, and establishing a strategic warehousing hub, is expected to be a game-changer for the region’s industrial landscape.
According to sources in the district administration, Reliance has formally submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) outlining its vision for the facility. The total investment is pegged at Rs.1,622 crore, with the conglomerate seeking approximately 100 acres of land to house its multi-purpose plant and logistics zone.
The proposed facility will focus on the large-scale production of bottled water and beverages under Reliance’s expanding FMCG portfolio. The warehousing segment is expected to serve not only as a distribution backbone for beverages but also potentially support other Reliance consumer products across southern India. Officials say this will be one of the largest investments in the beverage sector in Andhra Pradesh in recent years.
Meanwhile a senior official from the industries department confirmed the submission of the DPR. “We have received the detailed project proposal from Reliance. The administration is examining land suitability and infrastructure requirements. This project is expected to create significant employment opportunities and industrial momentum in the region.”
The site identified lies along the Kurnool-Nandyal corridor, which has already been marked by the state government for industrial development. Proximity to National Highway 44 and the presence of railway connectivity make the location a logistical sweet spot for regional supply chains.
This is part of Reliance’s larger strategy to diversify its FMCG operations while deepening its footprint in Andhra Pradesh. With the state now under a coalition government focusing aggressively on industrial revival, officials are hopeful that projects like this will rejuvenate investment sentiment and bring tangible development to districts like Kurnool, long regarded as an emerging growth centre.
If all clearances proceed on schedule, construction is likely to begin by the end of this year. The facility is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, besides creating ancillary opportunities in packaging, transport, and distribution.
As Andhra Pradesh looks to bounce back into the spotlight of national industrial investment, Reliance’s move could well be the spark that ignites a new wave of development in the Rayalaseema region.
