In a major relief to former Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Chief and senior IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, the state government has officially withdrawn all ongoing inquiries and legal proceedings against him. The decision follows a favourable verdict from the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which struck down the FIRs and chargesheets filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The government issued G.O. RT No. 1334, signed by Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, confirming the withdrawal of all departmental and legal actions. The High Court had earlier ruled that the cases filed under Sections 120-B, 420, and 409 of the IPC, along with provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, lacked legal standing.

Venkateswara Rao had challenged the ACB’s FIRs in the High Court, arguing they were baseless and politically motivated. The court accepted his arguments and dismissed the charges, marking a turning point in the long-standing legal battle.

Following the High Court’s judgment, the state government decided not to pursue a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court, offering the senior officer a final reprieve from years of legal entanglements.
