Remembering Pottapinjara Rajarao: A life of service and humility

26-03-2026 12:00:00 AM

Today marks the first death anniversary of Sri Pottapinjara Rajarao, a distinguished officer of the Revenue Department and a beloved son of Inagali, a historic village in Errupalem Mandal of Khammam District. Inagali, with its lush fields, flowing waters, and serene landscapes, carries a legacy of courage, having once been part of the Telangana armed struggle against the Nizam’s Razakars. Located near the southern frontier of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and a few kilometers from the famed Lord Venkateswara temple, often referred to as the “Southern Tirupati,” the village is the birthplace of Rajarao, born on July 2, 1947, to Deenamma and Lakshmaiah.

From his early years, it was clear that Rajarao would leave a mark. His journey in public service began through the Public Service Commission, driven by a desire to serve the people directly. Over decades, he rose through the ranks, from Deputy Tahsildar to Tahsildar, Revenue Divisional Officer, and finally District Revenue Officer, earning a reputation for integrity, dedication, and administrative excellence. His work was marked by progressive thinking, openness to reform, and a commitment to modernizing the Revenue system.

Rajarao’s legacy was not limited to professional accomplishments. He was known for his humility, selflessness, and tireless dedication to public welfare. In times of crisis, he provided support, reassurance, and relief to those in need, standing as a pillar of calm and reliability. Despite opportunities in other fields, he chose the path of public service, living as a “selfless karmayogi,” combining knowledge with compassion.

Born into modest circumstances, he balanced professional duties with family responsibilities. With the unwavering support of his wife, Rajashree Mani, he nurtured his children, Rajendra Prasad and Vijayalakshmi, instilling strong values and ensuring quality education. His family also includes his daughter-in-law Sheela and grandchildren Siddharth and Dhanush.

Even after retirement, Rajarao continued serving society through initiatives like the “Revenue” monthly magazine, sharing his expertise with farmers, employees, and the public. His contributions left an indelible impact on the Revenue Department and the wider community, inspiring colleagues and citizens alike.

Sri Pottapinjara Rajarao’s sudden passing on March 26 last year left an irreplaceable void. Yet, his ideals, values, and memories continue to guide and inspire those who knew him. On this solemn anniversary, his life is remembered with gratitude, respect, and reverence, honoring a man whose dedication to public service and humility made him a true example for generations to come.

His legacy endures, reminding us that a life devoted to service and integrity leaves an everlasting mark.
