Renowned Bengali star Mithu Mukherjee passes away at 71

Renowned Bengali actress Mithu Mukherjee passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer. The news about the actress’ passing was shared by sources from the Breach candy hospital in Mumbai. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) on X, formerly called Twitter, paid a tribute to the actress, who made her cinematic debut with Shesh Parba in 1971. “AICWA Pays Tribute to Legendary Actress Mithu Mukherjee 21 September 2026 Mithu Mukherjee was a celebrated Bengali and Hindi film actress who made her cinematic debut with Shesh Parba and went on to become a familiar and respected face of Indian cinema during the 1970s and 1980s,” the AICWA wrote on X.
