42% reservation to BCs must be implemented before elections: Kavitha

Telangana Jagruti President and BRS party MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the idea of holding local body elections while the BC bills passed by the state legislatures are   pending at the center was not right. She added that she would not sit idle by if elections were held without providing 42 per cent reservation to the BCs. “If the state government does not provide reservations, she would build a large-scale public movement.”

On Saturday, BJYM leader Sai Nath, leaders and students from various student organizations joined the Telangana Jagruti in large numbers on Saturday. MLC Kavitha welcomed them into the Telangana Jagruti by covering them with a scarf at her residence. Welcoming the students, she reminded them that students fought in the front lines of the separate Telangana movement and played a key role in the m movement, MLC Kavitha said that the students should be in the front lines of the movement to achieve social Telangana with the same spirit.

There was a need to address the problems of the students and fight for education. She demanded that there be fee reimbursement arrears of about Rs 8,000 crores and added that they be released immediately. She flagged that the Congress party was ignoring the promise given to distribute education assurance cards. She directed the Telangana Jagruti students’ wing to fight on this issue.
