Revanth, Kishan Reddy pay tributes to ex-PM Narasimha Rao on birth anniversary

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy and several other leaders paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao on his 105th birth anniversary.

Narasimha Rao led modern India "from abyss to the skies", the chief minister said in a post on 'X'. Telangana is proud of Rao, a son of the soil, he said, paying tribute to the former Prime Minister.

Kishan Reddy, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, several state ministers and other leaders paid floral tributes at 'PV Gyan Bhoomi', the departed leader's Samadhi on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake here. Kishan Reddy said Rao stands as a role model for politicians at a time when standards in public life are declining.

Goud said Rao would be remembered forever as a great statesman and an excellent PM. Recalling that Rao gave him the Congress ticket to contest assembly elections in 1994, Goud said his present rise in politics can be attributed to the former. The AICC would follow Rao's "message" as prime minister and AICC president, he said. Rao was born on June 28, 1921 and passed away on December 23, 2004. He served as prime minister from June 21, 1991 to May 16, 1996.
