In a hard-hitting keynote at the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) Annual Conclave, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy drew a sharp contrast between his administration and that of former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao. Without naming him directly, Revanth compared KCR’s governance style to that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, remarking that Telangana once had its own “Trump,” but the people had moved him aside.

The Chief Minister said governance driven by personal whims and “midnight orders” was unsustainable. He underlined the need for institutional discipline, political will, and stable decision-making, noting that erratic leadership often harms national interests. Drawing parallels with Trump’s impulsive policy remarks about India, he stressed that such styles do not stand the test of time.

Bharat Future City: A Vision for Global Standards

Moving from critique to vision, CM Revanth unveiled the ambitious Bharat Future City, to be built on over 30,000 acres in Hyderabad. Designed as one of India’s best-planned urban centers, the city will include nine dedicated zones such as AI City, Health Zone, and Education Zone.

He said this project is central to TelanganaRising 2047, an economic transformation plan that targets a $1 trillion state economy by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047. To achieve this, the state will be reorganized into three zones: Core Urban (inside the ORR), Semi-Urban Manufacturing (between ORR and RRR), and Rural Economy (beyond the RRR).

Highlighting climate resilience, the CM announced that Hyderabad would become India’s first Net Zero City. Through the rejuvenation of the Musi River, restoration of lakes, and development of an Urban Water Grid, the city will mitigate droughts and urban flooding. “Only cities that can manage climate risks have a secure future,” he told global industry leaders.

Revanth invited premier institutions such as Harvard and Stanford to establish campuses in Telangana, backed by state initiatives like the Young India Skills University and YI Sports University. He stressed the state’s plans to build IT and pharma corridors, relocate heavy industries beyond the ORR, and offer Telangana as a China+1 manufacturing alternative.

Engagement with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy

On the sidelines of the conclave, CM Revanth met New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, with both leaders agreeing to deepen ties in technology, life sciences, urban transit, and movies. Governor Murphy pledged expertise support to Hyderabad’s Metro and MMTS systems and welcomed stronger educational partnerships, with institutions like Princeton, Rutgers, and NJIT invited to set up offshore campuses in Telangana.

WEF President Børge Brende extends support

In a separate meeting, World Economic Forum President Børge Brende lauded Telangana’s rapid progress, asking the CM about the “secrets” of its recent success. Revanth attributed it to “hard work and collective support.” Brende promised WEF’s full backing for TelanganaRising 2047, invited the CM to Davos next year, and committed to visiting Hyderabad soon for further collaboration.
