Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a series of crucial meetings in the national capital on Tuesday, appealing to Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and JP Nadda for immediate central support towards the state’s industrial development and agriculture sector.
In a detailed meeting with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, the Chief Minister sought the early release of Rs 596.61 crore already approved by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) for the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City. Revanth Reddy urged the Centre to extend additional financial assistance for infrastructure works such as water supply, power networks, and other critical facilities for the smart city project.
Highlighting Telangana’s push towards creating robust industrial ecosystems, the CM also requested central funding for the rapid development of Warangal Airport, while briefing the Union Minister on the ongoing feasibility study for the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor. He proposed the declaration of the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor as an exclusive Aero-Defence Corridor, pointing out the state’s dedicated Defence and Aerospace Park already operational in Adibatla. The Chief Minister also emphasized Telangana’s plan to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks and sought central assistance for project approvals and investments.
Earlier, Revanth Reddy met Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers JP Nadda and raised concerns over the delayed supply of urea to the state during the ongoing Kharif season. He pointed out that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes were delivered between April and June, as against the required 5 lakh metric tonnes. Despite a scheduled allocation of 1.6 lakh metric tonnes for July—63,000 MT domestic and 97,000 MT imported—only 29,000 MT has been received so far, raising fears of disruption in farming activity.
The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to increase the quota of domestically produced urea for Telangana and to ensure timely supply by arranging more railway rakes, considering the reluctance of Railways to accommodate additional demands.
