The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that 200 acres of land required for the establishment of the IIM has already been identified at the University of Hyderabad
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to sanction an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Hyderabad and also set up Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya schools in identified areas in the Telangana state. The Chief Minister met Dharmendra Pradhan at the Union Minister’s chambers in the Parliament on Tuesday. During the meeting, he brought to the attention of the Union Minister the fast growing Hyderabad city in technology, life sciences, aerospace, defense, logistics, and advanced manufacturing sectors and the urgent need of the establishment of an IIM in the historical city.
The union government has established 21 IIMS in 19 states and one Union Territory. Revanth Reddy said, emphasising the establishment of an IIM in the Telangana state also.
The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that 200 acres of land required for the establishment of the IIM has already been identified at the University of Hyderabad campus. A facility of transit campus is also ready to immediately commence IIM classes, the Chief Minister said that the state government will grant necessary permissions for the establishment of the IIM and provide the required facilities. Revanth Reddy also briefed Dhramendra Pradhan about the air, road and rail connectivity from Hyderabad to all parts of the country, good environment and the history of Hyderabad in producing prominent personalities in diverse fields. The establishment of an IIM in Hyderabad would improve opportunities for the students of poor and middle-class families in the Telangana state.
Revanth Reddy also appealed to the Union Education Minister to sanction 9 new Kendriya Vidyalayas and 16 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in line with the increased number of districts in Telangana. The Chief Minister stressed that the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya schools will provide quality education to students in rural areas and the increasing urban areas. He requested to immediately establish Kendriya Vidyalayas in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kamareddy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Suryapet, Vikarabad, and Nirmal districts.
The Chief Minister urged Dharmendra Praddhan to establish Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mahabubabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Medak, Mulugu, Narayanpet, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nirmal, and Adilabad districts. State government is ready to provide necessary land and other facilities for the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Telangana MPs Dr. Mallu Ravi, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mandadi Anil Kumar, and State government's special representative in Delhi, AP Jitender Reddy were also present.
