The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Governing Council has taken a series of far-reaching decisions aimed at enhancing pilgrim amenities and strengthening the institution’s administrative and service framework. At a meeting chaired by TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala on Tuesday, the Board approved ambitious infrastructure projects, employee welfare measures, and significant investments in education and healthcare.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Chairman B.R. Naidu said the Council accorded approval for the planning and appointment of architects for a large integrated township to be developed over 20 acres in Tirupati. The proposed township is envisioned as a comprehensive facility to cater to the growing needs of pilgrims, with modern amenities and systematic planning to ease congestion and improve the overall pilgrimage experience.
In another landmark decision, the Board granted administrative sanction for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara temple at Bandra in Mumbai at an estimated cost of ₹14.40 crore, extending TTD’s spiritual footprint beyond Andhra Pradesh. The Council also approved a proposal to cultivate divine tree species over 100 acres at Palamaner to meet the long-term timber requirements for dhwajasthambhams and temple chariots across TTD temples.
Placing a high priority on employee welfare, the Governing Council approved substantial wage revisions for 62 archakas, paricharakas, potu workers, and prasadam distributors working in TTD-run temples. Archakas’ monthly salaries will be increased from ₹25,000 to ₹45,000, while paricharakas’ pay will rise from ₹23,140 to ₹30,000. The wages of potu workers and prasadam distribution staff have also been enhanced to ₹30,000 per month. Additionally, the Council gave the green signal for filling an additional Sannidhi Yadav post at the Srivari temple, along with the existing position.
The Board cleared several development initiatives in the education and healthcare sectors. An additional ₹48 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade facilities at the Padmavathi Children’s Heart Centre in Tirupati with advanced medical infrastructure. For TTD-run educational institutions, approvals were granted for the introduction of digital classrooms and installation of CCTV surveillance across 31 institutions. The Council also decided to extend the midday meal scheme to day scholars studying at SV Junior College and SPW Junior College.
To strengthen administrative capacity, the Governing Council resolved to seek government approval for filling 60 posts in the engineering wing and 18 supervisor posts in the Srivari Potu. A committee will be constituted to name roads and junctions in Tirumala after Vaishnava legends and Sri Venkateswara namas drawn from Annamacharya’s compositions. The Council also sanctioned Rs 14.10 crore for the development of the Siddheswara Swamy temple at Talakona.
Chairman B.R. Naidu stated that these decisions reflect TTD’s commitment to delivering improved services to devotees while reinforcing the institution’s long-term operational and spiritual objectives.
