Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday paid tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his Balidan Diwas (Martyrdom Day), describing him as a symbol of sacrifice, nationalism and unwavering commitment to India's unity. Dr Mukherjee was the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Addressing party leaders and workers here, Ramchander Rao said Dr. Mukherjee's contribution to the integration of Jammu & Kashmir and his role in safeguarding national interests continue to inspire BJP karyakartas. He noted that the Telangana BJP State Office is named after Dr. Mukherjee, reflecting his enduring legacy. “During those times, Hyderabad was under the Nizam’s rule, while Jammu and Kashmir too faced the challenge of complete integration with Bharat. Just as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played a decisive role in integrating Hyderabad and other princely states, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee gave his life for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India”, he noted.

Highlighting the upcoming 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Mukherjee, Rao urged party workers to draw inspiration from BJP's rise in West Bengal and work towards establishing a BJP government in Telangana. Former Governors Bandaru Dattatreya and Vidyasagar Rao, along with senior BJP leaders and workers, attended the programme. Separately, Bandaru Dattatreya paid rich tributes to Dr. Mukherjee, calling him a champion of national unity and democratic values. He said Dr. Mukherjee's vision of complete national integration was realized through the abrogation of Article 370 and remains a guiding force for the nation.

On this occasion, Dattatreya recalled that Dr. Mookerjee earned a permanent place in history as the great leader who fought for national integration under the principle that "One nation cannot have two Constitutions, two flags, and two Prime Ministers." He said that Dr. Mookerjee's life continues to inspire the nation with its ideals of patriotism, selfless service, and unwavering national consciousness.
