Rohit Sharma has become a spent force—or, to put it bluntly, a liability. A captain should lead from the front by scoring at least 40 runs or taking 5 or more wickets, like Bumrah did at the Perth Test. Rohit has not only lost his form but also his patience, resilience, and passion for runs. Age is not in his favor; his agility and technique are gone. His body language reflects a tense mind.
By gracefully stepping away from the remaining Tests in Australia and future Test matches, Rohit will do a favor to the country and give opportunities to young Indian batsmen like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Rohit Sharma could consider becoming the Indian cricket team coach, teaching youngsters what not to do, or follow in the footsteps of Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Sanjay Manjrekar as a commentator.
