Former chief minister of Erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Konijeti Rosaiah held the rare distinction of presenting the State Budget 16 times, a testament not just to his political acumen, but to his economic expertise. He was not merely a politician, but a seasoned economist and policymaker, said Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu. Speaking at the programme of 92nd birth anniversary celebrations of Konijeti Rosaiah at Ravindra Bharathi here on Friday, the Minister said Rosaiah was a statesman who earned admiration, not only from his own party but also from the opposition, thanks to his principled and value-based politics.
"Despite rising to the highest positions, he remained humble and grounded. It is a matter of great pride and joy that a statue of such a towering leader is being unveiled today at Lakdikapul, a fitting tribute to a man of such stature," he said.
The Minister stated that Rosaiah never craved power; rather, responsibilities and positions found him. Beginning as an ordinary party worker, he rose through sheer merit to serve as MLC, MLA, MP, Minister, Chief Minister, and Governor, dignifying each role with integrity and excellence.
"Rosaiah’s eloquence, constant study, administrative prowess, and unwavering loyalty to the party were the hallmarks of his public life. There can be no doubt that these qualities elevated his stature and legacy," he said.
The Minister further stated that till his last breath, Rosaiah remained committed to public service and he was known for his meticulous study of issues and for being the voice of the people in the Legislature.
Rosaiah spoke with clarity and courage, especially on legislative bills, and his speeches continue to serve as guiding lessons for us, Sridhar Babu said. "On a personal note, Rosaiah was very close to our family, a mentor and a guiding light. He shared a warm rapport with my father, Duddilla Sripada Rao. I consider it a great honour that I had the privilege of serving as a minister in the same cabinet as him," he said.
The Minister further stated that drawing inspiration from Rosaiah’s legacy, the people’s government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is tirelessly working for the development of Telangana. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Jupally Krishna Rao and other leaders were also present in the programme.
All India Congress Committee ( AICC) National President Mallikarjun Kharge and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy unveiled the statue of former chief minister of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, late Konijeti Rosaiah at Lakdikapool in Hyderabad on Friday.
AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Jupally Krishna Rao, MPs, GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, members of the Arya Vaishya groups and Rosaiah fans participated in the programme.
