Rs 1.7 crore worth of ganja destroyed in Asifabad

The District Drug Disposal Committee destroyed 296.31 kg of dry ganja and 964 cannabis plants linked to 57 cases registered at various police stations across Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. The narcotics were incinerated in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act.

District Superintendent of Police Nitika Panth said the destroyed contraband was valued at around Rs 1.70 crore. She said the district police were maintaining strict surveillance on the cultivation, transportation and sale of ganja and warned that stringent action would be taken against those involved in drug-related offences.

The destruction was carried out under the supervision of the District Drug Disposal Committee as part of efforts to curb the illegal narcotics trade and ensure compliance with legal procedures. Additional SP (Admin) Chittaranjan, Asifabad DSP Ashok, inspectors, sub-inspectors and other police personnel were present during the disposal process.
