Sayani’s directorial Aasmani to screen at Indie Meme Film Festival 2026, showcasing emotional storytelling through children’s perspectives globally

Actor Sayani Gupta is set to take her directorial venture Aasmani to the global stage, as the short film gears up for a screening at the Indie Meme Film Festival 2026 in Austin, Texas.

Scheduled to be held from April 22 to 26 at the AFS Cinema, the festival’s 11th edition will spotlight notable voices from South Asian independent cinema. Over the years, the platform has gained recognition for promoting diverse storytelling and connecting filmmakers with international audiences.

Aasmani will be screened under the Family Shorts Block on April 26, featuring stories narrated through children’s perspectives and exploring themes of love, loss, fear 

and intergenerational bonds.

Sharing the 

update, Sayani expressed excitement about the screening, describing the segment as a thoughtful collection of stories meant to be experienced by audiences of all ages.

The film follows the emotional journey of Smita, a woman in her late sixties, who shares a deep bond with her vintage car, also named Aasmani. Her relationship with her young granddaughter forms the core of this intimate narrative.

Featuring veteran actor Revathy along with Daria Bedi and Abhay Kaul, the film marks another milestone in Sayani Gupta’s evolving creative journey as she expands her footprint beyond acting.
