SC Commission working towards casteless society: Chairman

SC Commission Chairman Jawahar said that the members should work in accordance with the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and be the voice of the downtrodden castes

SC Commission Chairman K S Jawahar said that the Commission aims at a casteless society without discrimination and is working for the rights of the Scheduled Castes. The swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed members of the SC Commission was held at Kandukuri Kalyana Mandapam in Gymkhana Grounds on Wednesday. 

Chairman Jawahar administered the oath of office to members Mekala Biksham (Babu), N.T. Ramanjinamma, Ravada Sitaram, P. Gowtham Raj and Dr. Sripathi Babu. Speaking on the occasion, the SC Commission Chairman Jawahar said that the members should work in accordance with the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and be the voice of the downtrodden castes. He said that the 59 castes of the SCs should be served impartially without any bias and their problems be addressed. 

Former minister and Chairperson of the Consumer Protection Council Peethala Sujatha called for a continuous fight for the problems of Dalits. She said that if activists and leaders fight to remove inequalities in society and not for themselves, they will be remembered in history. Speaking on the occasion, MLA and TTD board members M.S Raju reiterated that the protection, self-respect and welfare of Dalits were given during the NDA government’s rule. He called upon the SC Commission to stand by the rights of the SCs so that justice is done to them. 

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy said that the government will work continuously for their upliftment of weaker sections while laying the foundation for their bright future.
