Riding high on the successful conduct of the first phase of the Telangana Gold Cup inter-district matches, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) announced that it would be sending teams to participate in BCCI tournaments in the 2026–27 domestic season. Speaking to the media, TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy said, “TCA is going to conduct the Telangana Premier League by fulfilling all the constitutional compliances required. Telangana can be rest assured that TCA will promote them on transparent and equal-opportunity platforms to play BCCI tournaments.” He further stated that TCA submitted a representation to BCCI on the irregularities by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and is expecting that BCCI will take necessary action.”
TCA Vice President Dr. Vijaya Chandar Reddy, said that the Telangana Gold Cup conducted by TCA in the districts has seen enormous potential from rural district cricketers who have performed exceptionally well. He further added that TCA would leave no stone unturned to encourage rural talent. For the past 12 years, on one side, HCA had access to funds of more than ₹800 crores but could not produce even one cricketer from the districts to the international arena. On the contrary, TCA has been producing scores of talented youngsters on par with first-class standards by spending funds from TCA members’ pockets.
TCA demanded that Vivek Venkataswamy, Telangana Labour Minister refrain from interfering and influencing HCA and comply with BCCI Rule 38 on Conflict of Interest. Advisory Board Member Gopal Sharma said that Mr. Vivek Venkataswamy and his family company, Visakha Industries, have obtained a colluded arbitration award within HCA for about Rs 60 crores, and that he is playing a collusive drama of conducting artificial cricket with the motive of promoting himself by violating the disqualification conditions of the BCCI/HCA Constitution. Hence, he must resign as State Minister in order to comply with the prescribed rules of BCCI cricket.
HCA managing committees are charged in several criminal cases by ACB, Police, ED, and CID, and HCA members are involved in multiple legal tangles. On the other hand, HCA has been obtaining favourable directions from Courts and BCCI, which are yet to be implemented in favour of TCA recognition.
