It is better to be safe than sorry, seems to be the motto of South Central Railway (SCR). In a meeting held at the SCR headquarters Rail Nilayam, it was decided that all construction sites would be fenced as a measure to avoid mishaps. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava emphasized on safety precautions to be followed at the worksites / construction sites. He advised the officials to provide fencing around construction sites and take necessary precautions at vulnerable locations near deep excavation pits to prevent accidental falls and untoward incidents. The General Manager reviewed the summary of safety inspections carried out by officers and supervisors during the month. He instructed all the officers and supervisors to educate and counsel the staff to take necessary precautions at stations and in sections / tracks to face challenges of monsoon season.
Reviewing ongoing safety drives across the zone, the General Manager examined initiatives undertaken by various departments including Engineering, Signal & Telecommunications, Mechanical and Electrical. He stressed that any deficiency noticed during inspections must be rectified promptly to ensure seamless train operations. The General Manager, while discussing on track safety, he reviewed trespassing incidents at closed Level Crossing gates over the zone. He instructed all Divisions shall identify such vulnerable locations and take preventive measures like trenching / barricading to restrict the trespassing and awareness programs shall be organized to educate the public/ nearby villagers to avoid trespassing incidents.
