Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women & Child Welfare, Seethakka, held a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on Saturday, to assess the Medaram Master Plan ahead of the 2026 Maha Jatara, Asia’s largest tribal fair. The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore for permanent infrastructure works at the sacred site.
Major allocations include Rs 5 crore for the Jampannavagu stream, Rs 4 crore for road links to Kannepalli and Oorattam, Rs 3.08 crore for queue line roofing, Rs 1.88 crore for reconstruction of Sammakka-Saralamma temples, and Rs 8 crore for widening a 6 km BT road. Additional funding will support the construction of priests’ quarters, tribal museums, and cottages.
Seethakka emphasized that all works must align with tribal traditions and be approved by tribal priests. From the design of the sacred Gaddelu to queue lines and temple gateways, every aspect must reflect Adivasi ethos. A Core Committee of priests, officials, and researchers will supervise the plan's execution, with Phase-1 to be completed before the January 28–31 festival.
Officials including Endowments Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer and temple priests’ association leaders participated in the meeting.
