B.Shivadhar Reddy took over as the Director General of Police for Telangana on Wednesday, making him the state’s sixth DGP. He succeeds Jitender, who held the position for 15 months. Shivadhar Reddy officially began his duties at 9:44 AM following special ceremonies at the DGP office located in Lakdi-Ka-Pool, Hyderabad.
In his subsequent remarks to the media, Reddy addressed the issue of Maoists, expressing his commitment to support those members who choose to reintegrate into society. He noted that a letter from a politburo member of the Maoist party indicated their willingness to abandon armed conflict.
"The situations in Russia and China are not dissimilar to those in India. The Maoists have adhered to a certain ideology for an extended period, but they have now come to understand the realities on the ground, which has led to a cessation of their struggle," he stated.
