Singareni secures Pkoc-2 coal block

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday welcomed the allocation of the PKOC-2 (Prakasam Khani Open Cast) dip-side coal block to Singareni Collieries, describing it as a long-awaited achievement for the company and the people of Telangana. Congratulating Singareni workers, officials, trade unions and their families, the Minister said the block near Manuguru in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was secured following the successful conclusion of the auction process on August 3.

The PKOC-2 Dip-side block contains an estimated 180 million tonnes of coal reserves and is expected to operate for 25 years with an annual production capacity of six million tonnes. The project is projected to generate employment for around 2,000 people, produce high-grade G-8 coal, generate over Rs.43,000 crore in revenue, and contribute more than Rs.10,500 crore to the state government.

Kishan Reddy said the allocation strengthens Telangana's energy security and Singareni's long-term growth. He noted that with the addition of the Naini, Tadicherla-2 and PKOC-2 dip-side coal blocks, Singareni now has access to 860 million tonnes of coal reserves, sufficient to sustain an average annual production of 22 million tonnes for 35 years.

He added that the three coal blocks are expected to generate over Rs.1.95 lakh crore in revenue for Singareni and more than Rs.48,000 crore for Telangana government, while creating livelihood opportunities for approximately 6,500 people. Kishan Reddy credited the achievement to the cooperation of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
