Singareni steps up OB removal to boost coal supplies

Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti has directed the General Managers of all areas to ensure that the revised overburden (OB) removal targets are achieved on a daily basis to facilitate adequate coal supplies to meet the State’s growing power requirements.

The CMD issued the directions while reviewing the performance of 19 offloading companies engaged in OB removal operations across 15 open cast mines of Singareni on Saturday. Addressing the meeting, Buddhaprakash Jyoti said power consumption in Telangana was increasing significantly and Singareni was taking steps to ensure adequate coal supplies to thermal power stations.

He stressed the need to achieve the revised OB removal targets at all open cast mines to meet the increased coal supply requirements.He said a target of 1,205 lakh cubic metres of OB removal had been set for the April-August period of the current financial year. Against this, 1,221 lakh cubic metres was removed, registering an achievement of 101 per cent.
