The Government of Telangana has approved a series of major urban infrastructure projects through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to enhance mobility, ease traffic congestion, and support Hyderabad’s long-term growth. Administrative sanctions have been accorded for several flagship projects aimed at strengthening both regional and intra-city connectivity.
World-Class Trumpet Interchange at Budvel
The Government has sanctioned the construction of a new trumpet interchange connecting Radial Road–2 with the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Km 143.000, integrating it with the Budvel Layout and improving the existing Rajendra Nagar Interchange (G.O.Rt.No.59, MA&UD, dated 16.01.2026). The DPR has been completed and the project is currently at the tender stage. Envisioned as a landmark gateway to Hyderabad, the interchange will provide seamless connectivity between Radial Road–2, ORR–Gachibowli, ORR–Shamshabad–RGIA, and Budvel, while also linking to the upcoming Musi Riverfront. The project, estimated at ₹488 crore, will be funded through HMDA infrastructure bonds.
Elevated Corridor–III: ICCC to Shilpa Layout
Building on two ongoing elevated corridors, the Government has initiated Elevated Corridor–III from Banjara Hills ICCC to Shilpa Layout, providing signal-free access to the ORR at Gachibowli. Estimated at ₹1,656 crore, the project will be executed in two phases: Phase-I (Film Nagar to Shilpa Layout – 5 km) and Phase-II (ICCC Tower to Hakimpet Kunta – 4 km). The corridor will decongest key areas including Banjara Hills, Film Nagar, and HITEC City, with six planned entry and exit points. A portion passing through Defence land is under clearance. Funding will be through HMDA bonds.
Pipeline Road Development: MGIT to Manikonda
To decongest Kokapet, Manikonda and surrounding areas, the Government has sanctioned ₹110 crore (G.O.Rt.No.71, dated 19.01.2026) for widening and strengthening the 3.57-km Pipeline Road. The project includes a six-lane carriageway, median, drains, culverts, junction improvements and landscaping. Tenders will be floated shortly.
ORR Widening: Nanakramguda to Gachibowli
To ease congestion near Gachibowli flyovers, the Government has approved ₹26.50 crore (G.O.Rt.No.69, dated 19.01.2026) to widen the left carriageway of the ORR from three to four lanes. Tenders will be floated on January 27, 2026.
Together, these projects mark a major push to modernise Hyderabad’s transport infrastructure and improve urban mobility.
