Sridhar Babu woos Malaysian Chip Investors

Minister for Information Technology and Industries, D. Sridhar Babu, has invited Malaysian companies to explore investment opportunities in Telangana’s rapidly growing semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sectors. The invitation was extended during a meeting with a high-level delegation from Penang, Malaysia, led by Deputy Chief Minister YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key areas such as semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation, and human capital development. Highlighting Telangana’s emergence as a leading destination for technology-driven investments, the Minister stated that Hyderabad is rapidly developing into a major hub for semiconductor design, electronics manufacturing, and advanced technologies.

Sridhar Babu outlined the State government’s proactive initiatives aimed at attracting global investments and creating a robust industrial ecosystem. He emphasized that Telangana offers significant opportunities across sectors including semiconductors, life sciences, biotechnology, clean energy, aerospace, defence, and precision engineering.

Underscoring the importance of international partnerships, the Minister said Telangana is committed to fostering collaborations that promote innovation, economic growth, skill development, and industrial advancement. He noted that Penang’s globally recognised expertise in semiconductor assembly, testing, and packaging could complement Telangana’s efforts to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem and enhance its position in the global value chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Penang Deputy Chief Minister YB Jagdeep Singh Deo expressed keen interest in deepening engagement with Telangana and exploring mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation. He acknowledged Telangana’s growing prominence as an innovation and technology hub and welcomed future collaborations in strategic sectors.

Both sides agreed to work towards developing a structured roadmap for collaboration in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, advanced technologies, innovation, and talent development, paving the way for stronger economic and industrial ties.
