STAR Hospitals launches “Pain & Palliative Care Services” for cancer

STAR Cancer Centre at STAR Hospitals, Nanakramguda, launched on Thursday its dedicated “Pain & Palliative Care Services for Cancer Patients.” It becomes Hyderabad’s first private hospital to integrate a dedicated  Pain & Palliative Care Service into its cancer care continuum. The launch was made by Chief Guest M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Vice President of India in the presence of Dr. Gopichand Mannam, Chairman & Founding Promoter, STAR Hospitals and other senior doctors. As part of the event, individuals and healthcare professionals were felicitated for their service to cancer patient care.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu mentioned that early detection remains the key to successful treatment and can effectively treat many cancers, thereby improving survival rates & reducing suffering. Dr. Gopichand Mannam stated that healing requires more than medicine - it demands a holistic approach that touches the physical, emotional and social aspects of patient care. The initiative offers comprehensive support to improve quality of life, such as symptom and pain management, targeted interventional procedures, nutritional counselling, physical rehabilitation, 24/7 emergency pain support, etc.
