Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchennaidu on Friday informed that the central government has already allocated 9.5 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers to the state for the rabi season for future needs and there is no need for the farmers to worry. He held a teleconference with collectors of Krishna, NTR, Srikakulam, Bapatla, Vijayanagaram, Kadapa, Eluru and Sri Sathya Sai districts, Special Chief Secretary Agriculture Rajasekhar and Director of Agriculture Dilli Rao on urea stocks, distribution and supplies in the state.
He directed the higher officials to monitor the official figures and the urea stocks at the ground level to ensure that no difference exists between them. When it was brought to the notice of the minister that most of the complaints are being received from Krishna, Bapatla and Kadapa districts, minister Atchannaidu instructed the collectors to respond quickly and resolve the issues. Collectors should take steps to supply urea from areas where urea stocks are high to areas where demand is high and steps will be taken to ensure that transportation costs are borne by the government, minister Atchannaidu said.
He also instructed the authorities to coordinate with port officials and railway officials to ensure that 53,000 metric tonnes of urea from Gangavaram and Kakinada ports reaches the state in a timely manner. Minister Atchannaidu has directed the collectors to respond to the false stories on social media and newspapers and explain the facts about urea stocks to the media every day.
