128 stone pelting cases reported over SCR

South Central Railway, Railway Protection Force (RPF) earnestly appeals to the General Public not to indulge in anti-social activities like Stone pelting on trains and placing of materials on Railway tracks which endangers the safety of passengers and damages Railway property. Such activities are a criminal offence and stringent action will be taken against the perpetrators under section 153 of Railways Act, which is punishable with imprisonment which may extend up to 5 years.

Railway Protection Force (RPF), SCR has been taking various steps across the zone to prevent and curtail such anti-social incidents in the future. Accordingly, during the year 2025 from January to May, 128 stone pelting cases have been reported over SCR, of which 85 cases have been detected and 102 offenders have been arrested.

All these cases have been prosecuted in the concerned jurisdictional courts, wherein 12 have been convicted so far, of which 01 accused is sentenced to undergo imprisonment of 15 days and remaining 11 accused are imposed with fine amounting to Rs. 30,500. Further, 29 cases of placing foreign materials on Railway tracks have been reported over the zone, of which 26 cases are detected and 33 offenders have been arrested. All the cases are under trial in the concerned jurisdictional courts.

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railways has said that the safety of the passengers and protection of the Railway property is top most priority for Railways. He appealed to the people to support railways in tackling such activities. He advised people to call 139 to report against any persons indulging in such activity so that swift action can be taken. He also appealed to parents to educate children about the negative consequences that such actions have in terms of safety to passengers, loss of precious national resources, while also impacting ones future.
