Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh K. Vijayanand has directed officials to ensure strict implementation of the government-prescribed food menu in all State-run welfare hostels, making it clear that no deviation will be tolerated under any circumstances.
Chairing a review meeting on positive public perception with senior officials of various departments at the RTGS office in the Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Secretary said that while conditions in government welfare hostels have improved compared to the past, there is no scope for complacency and further improvements are essential.
“Every hostel must serve food strictly according to the approved menu. Officials should take firm steps to ensure compliance at all levels,” Vijayanand instructed. He emphasised the need for continuous monitoring of food quality, hygiene standards and drinking water facilities, stating that these aspects directly impact the health and well-being of students.
The Chief Secretary also stressed that the implementation of government programmes and welfare schemes should be closely supervised, ensuring that public satisfaction levels do not decline. He urged departments to adopt proactive monitoring mechanisms to address grievances promptly.
Referring to Anna Canteens, Vijayanand said public feedback on the initiative has been highly positive. He directed officials to maintain satisfaction levels above 90 per cent, calling for regular inspections and quality checks to sustain the trust of beneficiaries.
Highlighting the importance of women’s safety, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to conduct extensive awareness programmes on women’s security across the State. He asked the police department to organise special district-level drives to strengthen outreach and awareness initiatives.
Vijayanand also reviewed the progress of RTGS operations, directing officials to ensure the effective utilisation of surveillance cameras to enhance monitoring and accountability.
The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary Vinay Chand, BC Welfare Secretary S. Satyanarayana, Information Department Director K. S. Viswanathan, RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain, Joint Secretary Malika Garg, and other senior officials.
