In a traditional Vedic ritual held on the banks of the Ganga, 49 students from the Jagadguru Kulam initiative underwent the Upanayana ceremony (sacred thread initiation) at Shri Vidya Math in Kashi (Varanasi). Among them was 7-year-old Atharv Kashyap from Assam, marking their formal entry into the study of Vedic knowledge and the path of Sanatana Dharma. The ceremony took place under the guidance of several acharyas, including Pandit Shri Ramchandra Dev Ji, at Shri Shankaracharya Ghat on the Ganga's edge.

According to Hindu tradition, the Upanayana is a prerequisite for Vedic study, symbolizing the beginning of a student's spiritual and educational journey toward becoming qualified pandits who will guide society along the eternal principles of Sanatana Dharma. The event was graced by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, the head of the Uttaramnaya Jyotish Peeth (Jyotirmath).

Revered as Paramadhya Parmadharmaadheesh, he blessed all the newly initiated students (upanita batuks). Brahmachari Paramatmanand Ji, in charge of the math, imparted the Gayatri Mantra initiation to the young initiates. Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is actively promoting Indian culture and Sanatana Dharma across the country through unprecedented service efforts. He currently oversees more than 10 branches of Jagadguru Kulam nationwide.

His vision is to establish at least one free gurukul in every district, ensuring accessible education in Hindu Sanatana Dharma traditions for all. This initiation reflects ongoing efforts to revive and sustain Vedic learning and traditional Hindu practices among the younger generation.
