Andhra Pradesh witnessed a major development push on Thursday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a record ₹13,430 crore worth of projects across power, roads, railways, industrial, petroleum and defence sectors. The massive announcement came during the ‘Super GST - Super Savings’ public meeting held at Kurnool, where the Prime Minister hailed the state’s unprecedented progress under the double-engine government of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The Prime Minister declared that Andhra Pradesh was racing ahead because “Delhi and Amaravati are working together in perfect coordination.” He credited the past 16 months of joint governance between the Centre and the state for transforming Andhra Pradesh into one of India’s fastest-growing economies.
“Under the visionary leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, Andhra Pradesh has received strong and stable leadership,” Modi said, opening his address with a warm “Namaskaram to my Telugu brothers and sisters.” He added that Andhra Pradesh’s development is vital to India’s mission of becoming a developed nation by 2047, calling the state a powerhouse of talent, technology, and innovation.
PM Modi devoted a significant part of his speech to Rayalaseema’s transformation, asserting that “Andhra Pradesh cannot progress without the growth of Rayalaseema.” The Orvakal and Kopparthy industrial zones, he said, will “redraw the economic map of the region” and open thousands of new job opportunities. He also lauded Kurnool’s vision to become a national drone hub, with defence manufacturing emerging as a major growth sector.
“In Orvakal and Kopparthy, industrial corridors will create jobs and change the face of Rayalaseema. The defence and drone projects will make Kurnool a pride of the nation,” he said.
Modi highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s crucial role in ensuring India’s energy security, noting that the state’s contribution to clean energy and gas infrastructure is fueling national growth. “Every village in India is electrified today. Per capita electricity consumption has risen to 1,400 units. Industries and households now have reliable power,” the PM said. He cited the Chittoor LPG bottling plant, which fills 20,000 cylinders a day, and the 15-lakh-household gas pipeline network as examples of efficient governance.
To achieve the goals of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, he emphasized multi-modal infrastructure linking villages, towns, ports, and industrial hubs. “The new Sabbavaram-Sheelanagar highway will further strengthen connectivity in coastal Andhra,” he noted.
Modi pointed to the recent Google investment in Visakhapatnam, calling it a global endorsement of Andhra Pradesh’s potential. “Google’s $15 billion investment outside the US, its largest ever, will make Vizag the AI and data connectivity hub of South Asia,” he said, adding that the Subsea Cable Gateway will link India to the world. “Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as the gateway of Digital India,” Modi remarked, crediting the state’s innovation ecosystem and youthful energy.
In his address, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the ‘Super GST - Super Savings’ campaign was just the beginning of many upcoming reforms aimed at giving citizens financial relief. “With the Centre’s ‘Super GST’ and the State’s ‘Super Six’ welfare schemes working hand in hand, people are witnessing real savings and progress,” he said.
Naidu lauded Modi as an extraordinary, tireless leader who transformed India’s image globally. “I’ve worked with many Prime Ministers, but I’ve never seen a visionary like Modi. He’s a leader who answers through actions, not words,” he declared, referring to the success of Operation Sindoor as proof of India’s growing strength under Modi’s leadership.
Before addressing the public meeting, PM Modi visited the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Srisailam, becoming the fourth Prime Minister to visit the shrine after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and P.V. Narasimha Rao. He also toured the Shivaji Inspiration Centre, commemorating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 1677 pilgrimage to Srisailam.
