A fresh controversy has erupted within the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), as tensions between Vijayawada MP Kesineni Chinni (Sivanath) and Tiruvuru MLA Kolikapudi Srinivas Rao have spilled into the public domain. The dispute, rooted in alleged financial dealings related to election tickets, has quickly snowballed into a political storm.

MLA Kolikapudi made a sensational claim that he paid money to MP Kesineni Chinni’s followers for securing a party ticket. In a move that shocked party circles, he even posted a bank statement on his WhatsApp status, claiming to have transferred Rs 5 crore for the ticket. His allegation that Chinni demanded Rs 5 crore for the TDP ticket has sparked intense debate among cadres and leaders.

The controversy has now caught the attention of the TDP leadership, with State President Palla Srinivas Rao summoning both leaders to the party headquarters in Mangalagiri for a detailed discussion. Sources indicate that the issue will later be brought to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s notice, who is likely to take a final decision on the matter after reviewing the facts.

This latest episode comes at a time when the TDP is focused on governance and investment promotion, making the internal discord an unwelcome distraction.
