In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for austerity and resource conservation amid the ongoing global fuel and energy crisis, the Telugu Desam Party has decided to conduct this year’s ‘Mahanadu’ entirely through digital mode, State Minister Kollu Ravindra announced on Saturday.
The minister said TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu took the decision considering the international geopolitical tensions, rising fuel concerns and the need to promote responsible expenditure and energy conservation.
The party’s annual conclave, which was originally planned to be organised on a large scale in Nellore, has now been shifted to the TDP central office in Mangalagiri. Senior party leaders, Politburo members and key functionaries will participate physically at the headquarters, while the programme itself will be conducted online.
To ensure that party cadre across the state remain actively involved, the TDP leadership has planned digital participation through large LED screens and cluster-based arrangements in all 175 Assembly constituencies. Party leaders and workers will be able to watch speeches, policy discussions, political resolutions and future action plans live through these digital platforms.
Minister Kollu Ravindra said the decision reflects the party leadership’s commitment to practising the same austerity measures being advocated nationally. He added that the digital format would significantly reduce travel, fuel consumption and unnecessary expenditure while still enabling large-scale participation by party workers.
The minister also warned traders against exploiting the prevailing fuel and supply concerns to artificially inflate prices of essential commodities. He said the government would take strict action against those attempting to create artificial shortages or indulge in black marketing.
Assuring the public that there is no need for panic, Ravindra said the state government has already constituted a special committee under Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar to closely monitor prices and market conditions across Andhra Pradesh.
He stated that the committee is continuously reviewing the availability and pricing of essential commodities to ensure consumers are not burdened during the present global uncertainties.
