Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday stressed the need to maintain a balance between technology and spirituality, saying yoga and spiritual practices are essential for leading a healthy and stress-free life in a rapidly evolving digital world.

Participating in a special yoga session conducted by yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the historic Undavalli Caves as part of the state government’s Yogandhra initiative, the Chief Minister said India’s cultural and spiritual traditions have earned global recognition and should be preserved for future generations.

Addressing participants, Naidu said technological advancements are transforming lives, but spirituality and yoga help people maintain mental balance and overcome the challenges arising from excessive dependence on technology. He thanked Baba Ramdev for promoting yoga and conducting awareness programmes in Amaravati and Vijayawada.

The Chief Minister announced that yoga and pranayama would be incorporated into the state government’s Sanjeevani public health programme. He said the initiative aims to promote preventive healthcare by encouraging healthy lifestyles through regular yoga practice and wellness activities.

Highlighting the government’s environmental goals, Naidu said efforts are underway to increase Andhra Pradesh’s green cover to 50 per cent and expand natural farming across the state. He noted that nearly 20 lakh farmers are moving towards chemical-free agriculture and reiterated the vision of developing Amaravati into a pollution-free, net-zero capital city that blends development, spirituality and tourism.

Baba Ramdev praised Naidu’s focus on yoga, natural farming and sustainable development, describing Amaravati as an emerging “Yoga Capital.” Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav and senior officials were also present at the programme.
