The Telangana Congress leadership will once again head to New Delhi for crucial discussions with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) high command on May 30. This comes after the scheduled meeting on Monday was deferred due to the unavailability of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital. Consequently, the final decision on the Cabinet expansion and the TPCC executive body has also been postponed.
As per instructions from the high command, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, TPCC President B Mahesh Kumar Goud, and senior party leaders will be present in Delhi for the rescheduled meeting. The focus will be on finalizing the Cabinet expansion and completing the TPCC leadership structure.
The Congress high command is actively reviewing proposals concerning ministerial appointments and organizational roles, with a particular emphasis on equitable community representation. Currently, six ministerial posts remain vacant in Telangana, and discussions have intensified over the inclusion of prominent leaders such as MP Vakkati Srihari, Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, and P Sudarshan Reddy. Sources suggest that the final approval for the Cabinet expansion is expected from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the coming days.
The TPCC is also in the final stages of announcing its new structure, which includes the appointment of four working presidents. The leadership continues to emphasize enhanced representation for Backward Classes (BCs) in both the government and the party.
All India Congress OBC conference pats Telangana’s Leadership on Caste Census
The Telangana Congress delegation made a strong impression at the All India Congress OBC Conference held in New Delhi recently. The event was attended by AICC leaders, PCC presidents, OBC ministers, BC MPs, MLAs, and key party members from various states. The conference highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to social justice through caste census initiatives.
Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, speaking at the event, emphasized that the caste census conducted in Telangana is a model for the rest of the country. She stated that justice for weaker sections can be achieved only through such data-driven approaches. The Assembly of Telangana had earlier passed a resolution congratulating Rahul Gandhi for championing the cause of caste census, which was a key poll promise fulfilled by the state government.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar presented a detailed PowerPoint on the caste census implementation and its legislative impact in Telangana. He noted that following the survey, a landmark law was passed to increase reservations to 42% in political, educational, and employment sectors for backward communities, garnering unanimous support across party lines.
The Telangana Congress leaders reiterated that Rahul Gandhi’s push for a nationwide caste census has laid the groundwork for social equity, and Telangana is proud to be leading this effort among all Indian states.
