Telangana has become AICC’s ATM: KTR

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President and former minister K.T. Rama Rao strongly criticised the Congress government, accusing it of betraying farmers and failing to fulfil the promises made to the people of Telangana before coming to power. He stated that the BRS will corner the Congress government during the ongoing Assembly Budget Session over the unfulfilled Six Guarantees and other key commitments.

Before attending the Assembly session, members of the BRS Legislature Party visited the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park and paid tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the formation of Telangana. BRS MLAs and MLCs also staged a protest at the memorial, raising slogans against the Congress government and demanding immediate implementation of its electoral promises.

Speaking to the media later, KTR said that it has been a long standing tradition for BRS legislators to pay homage to the martyrs before attending Assembly sessions. He said the entire BRS Legislature Party honoured the sacrifices of the martyrs and student leaders who fought for the creation of Telangana.

KTR said the Congress party had promised to implement the Six Guarantees within 100 days of assuming power and had also assured that these guarantees would be granted legal status in the very first Cabinet meeting. However, he pointed out that even after two and a half years in office, the government has failed to provide legal backing to the Six Guarantees despite announcing the same in the Governor’s address during the first Assembly session after coming to power.

He criticised the government for neglecting farmers and failing to release Rythu Bandhu assistance in time. Under the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao, he said, funds were credited to farmers before the sowing season, but farmers are now completing harvests without receiving any support from the government.

KTR also questioned the government’s priorities, alleging that while farmers are waiting for assistance, the Congress leadership is planning to allocate Rs. 1000 crore to Rahul Gandhi. He said this has prompted BRS to raise the slogan, “Not Rahul Bandhu, give Rythu Bandhu.”

He further accused the Congress government of failing to implement several promises, including two lakh government jobs, Rs. 2,500 monthly assistance for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, increased pensions of Rs. 4,000 for senior citizens, financial support for agricultural labourers and auto drivers, and the Ambedkar Abhaya Hastham scheme for SC and ST families.

KTR also highlighted that nearly Rs. 10,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues for students remain pending and criticised the government for failing to implement the promised job calendar.

He alleged that the Congress government has pushed Telangana into financial mismanagement and is turning the state into an ATM for the AICC instead of focusing on welfare and development.

KTR said the BRS will raise all these issues in the Assembly and demand accountability from the Congress government on behalf of the people of Telangana.
