Telangana Jagruti President Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly condemned the BJP-led Central Government for once again delivering a big zero to Telangana in the Union Budget for the twelfth consecutive year.
Reacting to the Union Budget on the X platform, she stated that the BJP has made it a practice over the last twelve years to systematically deny Telangana its rightful share.
Kavitha expressed serious concern over the continued discrimination against Telangana in the Union Budget. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly speaks of “cooperative federalism,” the Centre’s actions reflect the exact opposite, she said. She pointed out that crucial funds due to Telangana for various development projects, including statutory assurances made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, remain indefinitely pending.
Kavitha questioned why BJP leaders, who routinely preach stability, fiscal discipline, and economic growth, consistently adopt a discriminatory approach when it comes to Telangana.
Kavitha remarked that despite Telangana electing eight BJP Members of Parliament, the state has received nothing in return. Instead of releasing long-pending funds, the Centre continues to push files into limbo, she alleged.
She highlighted that funding has been stalled for critical infrastructure projects such as the Regional Ring Road, highways, and radial roads, amounting to Rs 34,367 crore.
The Central government has also failed to release its mandated 50 percent share for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion. Further, she noted that clearances for new railway lines have not been granted and the proposed Warangal Coach Factory has been put on hold. Telangana has been denied an IIM, 16 Navodaya Vidyalayas, and 9 Kendriya Vidyalayas. The Bayyaram Steel Plant, promised as part of the bifurcation assurances, continues to be ignored. No meaningful industrial incentives have been extended to the state, she added.
Kavitha stated that the list of injustices inflicted on Telangana by the BJP government is long and ever-expanding. She questioned whether Prime Minister Modi’s interpretation of cooperative federalism means sidelining Telangana’s interests and denying its people their rightful development.
