Telangana RERA Chairman appreciates Lepakshi paintings

The intricate sculptures and ceiling paintings at the historic Sri Durga Papanaseshwara Veerabhadra Swamy Temple in Lepakshi are extraordinary, remarked K.S. Srinivasa Raju, Chairman of the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TS RERA). During his visit to attend an event on Sunday at the Kodigenahalli Gurukula School, K.S. Srinivasa Raju visited the temple to offer special prayers to deities Sri Durga Mata, Sri Papanaseshwara Swamy, and Sri Veerabhadra Swamy.                  

Highlighting the temple’s artistic heritage, he stated that the colossal fresco of Lord Veerabhadra in his fierce form, painted on the ceiling of the Maha Mandapam in front of the sanctum sanctorum, stands as a testament to the unmatched artistic mastery of the Vijayanagara Empire. He also praised the vibrant fresco of baby Krishna depicted as Vatapatrashayi (resting on a banyan leaf), noting that it adds immense aesthetic splendor to the Natya Mandapam (dance hall).

The RERA Chairman commended the ancient artisans for creating architectural marvels like the hanging pillar that does not touch the ground, the monolithic Nagalinga, and the world-renowned Lepakshi Nandi (Basavanna).During the visit, historian and author MyNaa Swamy briefed the delegation on the history, architectural significance, and lore of the temple. He also presented copies of his book on Lepakshi to Srinivasa Raju and his accompanying delegation.

Among those who visited the temple were National Highways Advisor K. Nayeemullah, Sudhakar Reddy (Roads & Buildings Department), Vijaya Naidu (Amara Raja), Dr. Raghurami Reddy, and Dr. S. Rammohan. The temple priest, Lakshmi Narasimha Sharma, performed the rituals, offered teertha prasadams, and blessed the dignitaries.
