The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 88.50 crore to accelerate the construction of 'Self-Respect' buildings for 38 Backward Class (BC) community associations across the state. Minister for BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar formally handed over Government Orders (GOs) to representatives of various BC associations at his quarters in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the Minister stated that the initiative is being expedited under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Addressing previous delays caused by administrative and technical hurdles, the Minister noted that the land plots developed under a 'Ready to Construction' framework with HMDA assistance are now fully cleared for immediate work. He urged community leaders to ground the works during the auspicious Karthika Masam, targeting completion within one year.
To streamline execution, permissions will be facilitated via a single-window system involving HMDA and the Engineering department, backed by monthly progress reviews. Firmly dismissing rumours of land reclamation, Ponnam Prabhakar assured that the allotted plots remain protected assets of weaker sections, emphasising that community associations must ensure timely construction.
