A 28-year-old student from Nalgonda was arrested following his deportation from the US for allegedly using forged documents to obtain his visa. Authorities also detained the head of an overseas education consultancy firm accused of supplying fake degree certificates.
The student, enrolled in a master's program at Webster University in Missouri, was deported from Dallas in late May after US immigration officers found his Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) status inactive. Upon his arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on June 1, local immigration officials conducted an inquiry, leading to his arrest.
During questioning, he admitted to securing a US visa in September 2023 using fraudulent B.Sc. Computer Science certificates, allegedly procured from the consultancy firm’s managing director. A subsequent raid at the firm’s office uncovered multiple fake certificates and Rs 10 lakh in cash.
Investigators revealed that the consultancy head had facilitated admissions abroad for 15 students over five years using forged documents. A case has been registered, and further inquiries are ongoing.
