BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Saturday opined that there was a growing sentiment across Telangana that “Congress must go and KCR must return,” asserting that people would bring back the BRS government whenever elections are held. Addressing a meeting of key party activists and Booth Level Assistants from Sanath Nagar constituency at Telangana Bhavan, he accused the Congress government of failing to manage even basic civic issues in Hyderabad while misusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for political gains.
KTR alleged that the SIR exercise, which is normally undertaken as part of voter list revision, had become controversial across the country due to the BJP’s alleged attempts to remove opposition supporters and voters from electoral rolls in states with strong regional parties. Referring to complaints from Bihar, West Bengal and other states, he said BRS cadres must remain vigilant to prevent any irregularities in Telangana. He instructed Booth Level Assistants to ensure that not a single eligible voter’s name was removed due to the alleged collusion of BJP and Congress parties.
He stressed that the SIR process must be conducted in a transparent and politically neutral manner. KTR recalled that the BRS had earlier written to the Election Commission seeking transparency in the exercise and had urged officials to identify and remove bogus and duplicate votes, especially in Hyderabad. He also referred to the alleged impact of duplicate votes in Jubilee Hills constituency during previous elections.
Claiming that the BJP had little real presence in Telangana, KTR remarked that the party appeared stronger on social media than in society and survived largely on “artificial hype” created during Parliamentary elections. He accused the BJP of trying to create divisions among people for political advantage.
Criticising the Congress government, KTR said the administration had focused mainly on demolitions since coming to power and had failed to effectively manage drinking water supply, mosquito control and other civic services in Hyderabad. He asserted that the previous BRS government had transformed Hyderabad into a leading city across sectors and expressed confidence that people would once again support the party based on its welfare and development record.
I am confident that people would once again support the BRS party based on its welfare and development track record.
