Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu appointed advisor to Telangana Govt

The Telangana government has appointed globally renowned oncologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu as Advisor for its initiatives on Prevention, Curative, and Affordable Cancer Care in the state. A Government Order (G.O) to this effect was issued on Saturday. This significant appointment follows Dr. Dattatreyudu’s recent meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills. During the meeting, Dr. Dattatreyudu lauded the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare and education and pledged his full support for strengthening the cancer care system in Telangana.

The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday lashed out at the Union Government for its continued discrimination against Telangana in the allocation of funds and infrastructure projects. Speaking at the inauguration of the PJR Flyover in Gachibowli-Kondapur, he criticised Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and the eight BJP MPs from Telangana for failing to bring a single major project or fund allocation from the Centre to the state. “What has Modi’s government given to Hyderabad? While other states received metros, bullet trains and riverfronts, Telangana’s rightful demands for Musi River rejuvenation, Metro Rail expansion and the Regional Ring Road were ignored,” Revanth stated.

He announced that the Congress government will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is visiting Hyderabad on June 29, to press for approvals and financial support for these key infrastructure projects. He emphasised that development is above politics and warned against those obstructing government programs under the guise of political opposition. Touching on the Kancha Gachibowli land issue, the Chief Minister said that despite legal challenges and vested interests trying to block progress, the Congress government reclaimed crucial land after a long legal battle. “We will now use that land to attract IT companies and generate lakhs of jobs.

No matter how many hurdles come our way, we will not stop,” he affirmed.

Revanth Reddy also announced sweeping urban development plans under the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision. The government is dividing the state into Core Urban, Semi Urban, and Rural zones for targeted development. Stressing on Hyderabad’s importance—generating 65% of the state’s revenue—he said the city’s future lies not in competing with Indian metros, but with international cities like New York, Tokyo, and Singapore.

To prepare for the next 100 years, Revanth said the government is planning massive infrastructure expansion, including new roads, underpasses, and flyovers. To combat pollution, diesel RTC buses have been shifted to rural areas and 3,000 electric buses will be introduced in Hyderabad. He also lifted the ban on auto-rickshaw purchases, allowing electric and CNG variants, while promising full tax exemptions for electric vehicles.
