In a significant decision poised to transform the state education landscape, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that Telangana will adopt a 10+2 education system, replacing the present Intermediate education. As many states have this system, including the CBSE, this decision was to ensure uniformity for Telangana with all states that have a 10+2 education system. Speaking at an informal media interaction at the State Legislative Council on Friday, the Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive overhaul of the education sector. As the lead initiative of these reforms, the government will implement a unified single education system from nursery to the twelfth grade. This transition aligns Telangana with the national plus two educational framework to streamline academic progression. The state education commission is actively studying these sweeping changes before final implementation.
"Additionally, massive allocations have been made for public healthcare and educational reforms. In alignment with the National Education Policy, the state is transitioning to a unified system where students can complete their education from pre primary to plus two within a single government school," CM stressed.
Addressing the financial direction of the state, Revanth Reddy described the newly introduced budget as a dedicated welfare and development budget. He highlighted that seventeen thousand crore rupees have been specifically allocated for diverse welfare initiatives. A major announcement included the immediate extension of the Indiramma Bima insurance scheme to all citizens possessing a valid ration card.
The Chief Minister also addressed ongoing political and legal controversies, particularly the illegal phone tapping scandal from the previous administration. He revealed that over six thousand phones were illegally monitored. The government is strictly following legal procedures to ensure the case stands in court, noting that the statement of the prime accused is currently being recorded. He dismissed claims by opposition leaders regarding legal exonerations as false propaganda. Furthermore, strict action has been taken in the Formula E racing controversy with the suspension of a senior IAS officer.
Taking a strong political stance, Revanth Reddy alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is virtually under house arrest by his own family members, explaining his absence from the assembly. He also shed light on the heavy state debt burden, explaining that out of the recent borrowings, a massive portion was utilized purely to service the debt accumulated by the previous government.
" Since assuming power, the current administration has borrowed 3.47 lakh crore rupees. However, a staggering 3.30 lakh crore rupees from this amount was utilised strictly to clear the debts and interest accumulated by the previous government," he said.
The Chief Minister challenged opposition leaders to face any investigative agency regarding past land transfer policies and asserted that his government remains fully committed to transparent governance and fulfilling all electoral promises.
