Trade union representatives emphasized their commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the Labour Codes reach workers nationwide

Sixteen central trade unions, including Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), expressed their support for the four Labour Codes notified by the government last month.

The announcement came during the Labour & Employment Summit–2025, organised by the Confederation of Central Trade Unions (CONCENT) in New Delhi. Trade union representatives emphasized their commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the Labour Codes reach workers nationwide. They also pledged to counter misinformation regarding their implementation.

Union Minister for Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the summit and highlighted the key provisions of the Labour Codes. These include guaranteeing minimum wages for all workers, making appointment letters mandatory, extending social security coverage to over 40 crore workers, and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women. Mandaviya stressed that the Codes prevent any employer or individual from infringing on workers’ rights.

The event brought together more than 200 participants, including trade union leaders, workers, senior representatives from employers’ organisations, and social security institutions. Participating trade unions included BMS, National Front of Indian Trade Unions (NFITU), Trade Union Coordinating Committee (TUCC), HMKP, BRMGSU, NLO-INTUC, FFR, AIBEU, NFFWESCI, HMKU, KLU, FSUI, and others.

The unions collectively resolved to raise awareness about the Labour Codes among workers and strengthen outreach to ensure that their provisions are effectively implemented across India.
