The Andhra Pradesh government it seems is serious about the adage- Prevention is better than cure. As a precautionary measure, the government has decided to remove chicken from the diet in tribal welfare schools amid the scare of bird flu.
The state government has identified cases of bird flu in at least two to three districts, prompting a swift response to curb its transmission. One of the major decisions taken includes temporarily suspending the consumption of chicken in Girijan Gurukul schools and EMRS (Eklavya Model Residential Schools) institutions until further notice. In place of chicken, students will be provided with vegetarian dishes, fruits, and sweets to ensure nutritional balance.
The Chief Secretary Vijayanand has urged the public to remain calm, assuring that all necessary containment measures are being implemented. District collectors and the Animal Husbandry Department have been directed to ensure proper disposal of infected poultry to prevent further spread of the virus.
Authorities have advised individuals showing any of these symptoms to seek immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, the state continues its efforts to contain the outbreak, assuring that public health remains a top priority. Further advisories will be issued as the situation develops.
