Attapur police arrested two habitual offenders involved in a series of motorcycle thefts and recovered five stolen two-wheelers, including a Royal Enfield Himalayan, in a major breakthrough.
The accused, both 18-year-olds, were identified as Mohammed Shanawaz alias Shanu, a Blinkit delivery executive, and Mohammed Moiz Mohiyuddin, a garment shop worker. Two other suspects, Noor and Farhan, remain absconding.
Police said the gang stole a Royal Enfield Himalayan parked outside a restaurant near Pillar No. 295 at Shivrampally in the early hours of June 25. Acting on information provided by one of the absconding accused, the gang allegedly broke the bike's lock and towed it away using another stolen scooter before hiding it for sale.
During the investigation, police recovered the stolen Royal Enfield, two Suzuki Burgman scooters and two Honda Activa scooters. Two of the recovered vehicles had been stolen from Begum Bazar and Mailardevpally police station limits.
A case has been registered under Sections 305(b), 3(5) and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said the accused were previously involved in property offences, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining two suspects.
